Fennel is another herb traditionally used in cooking to add layers of delicious flavors. Seeds are used to flavor sausages, the bulbs can be roasted or eaten raw as part of a salad. Fennel is an absolutely delicious herb with numerous benefits from treating gas, indigestion, bloating and colic to boosting milk production for nursing mamas.

Fennel helps ease a multitude of digestive alignments including heartburn, gas and bloating. It can also help to stimulate appetite in various circumstances like when recovering from an illness.

Fennel also is supportive to both mom and baby during the early stages of motherhood, easing colic symptoms for baby and boosting mamas milk supply.  A bonus is when mama takes fennel, the herb is naturally passed to baby through the breast milk.

Fennel can also help relive upper respiratory infections, cough, bronchitis, sore throat, menstrual cramps and more.

Ingredients: Fennel flowers, leaves and stem in organic, grain-free vodka

Dosage Recommendations:

Infants: under 6 mo 1/4 - 1/2 dropper full in some breast milk given by bulb syringe

Children: 2 - 12: 1/2 -1 dropper full in juice or water, up to 3x’s a day.

Adults: 1 - 3 dropper full in juice up to 3x - 5x’s a day

A note about dosage:

Dosing with herbs is not as straight forward as with pharmaceuticals since they work synergistically with the body instead of masking and covering symptoms by overriding the bodies natural healing mechanisms.

A good rule of thumb is to start slow and let the body decide what the right dosage is. Our dosage recommendations are just that: a general recommendation. Trust your body and its innate wisdom. Some people will need more, others will need less. For acute symptoms start with 1 dropper full and repeat as needed every 15 min until you notice some relief or shift within your body. For long term or chronic conditions, pay attention to signs that your body is in the sweet spot or if it needs more or less of the tincture. That being said you cannot do the same amount of damage or “overdose” the way you can with pharmaceuticals. Even the amount of alcohol is minimal will not cause harm. Tinctures are considered safe and effective and the original medicine!
